Any decision outside the Syrian National Congress is incomplete and Damascus must correct the mistake
ANHA Agency:
The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria confirmed that any decision outside the framework of the Syrian National Congress and without the participation of political, revolutionary and popular forces is considered “deficient and illegal”, and called on the authorities in Damascus to rectify the mistake.
The Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria issued a statement to the public opinion regarding the Damascus authorities holding a conference attended by a number of leaders of “Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham” and other mercenaries of the Turkish occupation, including some of those listed on the “terrorist lists” such as the mercenary Hatem Abu Shakra, the perpetrator of the assassination of the Secretary-General of the Future Syria Party, Hevrin Khalaf, and the criminal mercenary “Abu Amsha”.
The administration’s statement, a copy of which was received by us, reads as follows: “In light of the rapid developments in Syria, following the fall of the Baath regime, which is considered a victory for the Syrian people in all their spectrums and components, and at a time when the Syrian people were waiting to hold a comprehensive Syrian national conference to draft and prepare for a consensus constitution and hold parliamentary and presidential elections, the authority in Damascus held an expanded meeting attended by a number of leaders of the Syrian factions, during which several decisions were taken. In this context, we in the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria confirm that the decisions should have been made within a national conference attended by all Syrian components, sects and groups, including women and youth.
While we criticize the holding of such a meeting, especially since among the attendees are some figures listed on the terrorist lists, and their hands are stained with the blood of the Syrian people, headed by Ahmed Ihsan Fayyad al-Hais, nicknamed “Abu Hatem Shakra,” who killed the Secretary-General of the Future Syria Party, Hevrin Khalaf, as well as Mohammed al-Jassem, known as “Abu Amsha,” who committed many crimes against the Syrian people, especially in Afrin, we affirm that such a meeting is illegal and does not express what the components in Syria aspire to.
We also emphasize that the contexts that take place outside the framework of the Syrian National Conference and without the participation of political, revolutionary and popular forces are considered “deficient,” and that holding a national dialogue conference in Syria, without excluding any of the Syrian parties or components, is the best solution to end the state of instability that Syria is currently experiencing, and to bring our people to safety, because excluding any party or component will be the reason for not achieving the goals of our people’s revolution, and its reality will not be different from the previous regime. Therefore, we call on the authorities in Damascus to rectify the existing mistake and have Syrians participate with all their categories and political orientations in a comprehensive national conference attended by everyone and to set the features of a new constitution for the country.
In light of all these developments, the authorities in Damascus must not allow any party or person to promote hate speech and attempt to undermine the state of brotherhood and coexistence that is a characteristic of the Syrian people, and reject all inflammatory speeches that target a specific nationality or sect, which are clearly evident in some events, as happened a few days ago in Umayyad Square in the Syrian capital, Damascus, as well as in other cities. Such positions create strife and rifts among the components of the Syrian people, and do not serve the goal that we all seek, which is to build a unified democratic Syria, establish the law, and achieve transitional justice.
Once again, we in the Democratic Autonomous Administration in North and East Syria proceed from national principles with the permanent call to preserve Syria’s unity and sovereignty and to involve all components of the Syrian people in shaping the features of the future Syria on democratic and decentralized foundations.”
